_____ CHECK PASSPORT EXPIRATION DATE
Check the expiration date of your passport and be sure it is current as least six months
after the date you return, as some countries have this requirement. If it has expired or will expire, start this instant and reapply for your new passport by mail; applications are available at more post offices.
_____ HOME PREPARATION
_____ Stop delivery of newspapers, and ask the post office to hold your mail. Have a neighbor check your front door for unexpected packages or circulars.
_____ Make your home as burglar-proof as possible. Check windows and doors, secure locks, test alarms, use timers to turn lights and radios on and off.
_____ Make arrangements to have snow shoveled from your driveway and walkways during the winter and your lawn mowed during the spring and summer.
_____ Pay Bills. Make sure that bills which will come due during your trip will be paid on schedule.
_____ Arrange for pet and plant sitter. Remember that many kennels may be booked up early for holidays and other peak travel periods.
_____ GIVE AN ITINERARY OF YOUR TRIP TO A RELATIVE OR FRIEND Anderson Tours will be sending extra copies of your itinerary and hotel list in the last packet approximately two weeks before departure.
_____ CARRY PRESCRIPTIONS WITH YOU
Take along prescriptions for any necessary medications (medicines should be in their original containers), as well as the prescription for your glasses and an extra pair if you have them.
_____ SLIM DOWN YOUR WALLET AND LEAVE VALUABLES AT HOME Removing personal items and local credit cards can reduce the inconvenience and anxiety of losing your wallet while on tour. Avoid taking valuable jewelry, and store any valuables you do take in the hotel’s safe deposit box.
_____ REPLENISH ANY SUNDRIES AND FILM
Remember that toothpaste, film, shaving cream, etc., can cost twice as much (or more) if bought at an airport or hotel shop.
_____ PACK YOUR CARRY-ON WITH A CHANGE OF CLOTHES
Should your luggage become lost en route, carrying a change of clothes and a toiletries kit with you will allow you to begin enjoying your vacation while your belongings are being located. Always put your medications and passport in your carry-on. Never put them in your checked suitcase.
_____ CHECK APPLIANCES YOU INTEND TO CARRY
To use hair dryers, electric shavers, etc., you will need the appropriate converters and adapters (wattage and voltage). Please read the page on electricity included in this packet.
Those leaving from Salt Lake City will receive their airline tickets at the airport. Those departing from other locations should receive their tickets approximately two weeks before departure. Make sure these are kept on your person.
_____ RELAX FOR ONE FULL DAY BEFORE YOUR TRIP BEGINS
Many people work right up until the last minute before their trip. Plan ahead with your packing and work schedules, allowing for a day of rest before your departure. This will help you stay healthy and enjoy your trip more.
